Days 38 and 39: At Sea, Sailing from Hong Kong to Vietnam

Like my last all-too-short two travel days, I spent the majority of my time sleeping, going to class, and writing in my journal. I did a few noteworthy things, though. I’m listing them in no particular order because I simply have them down in my notes as bullet points, and I can no longer remember many details about those days.

I got together with Tolan and worked on How to Pick up a Latin Chick. Tolan is a genius at guitar. When I told him about the song and sang him the choral melody, he immediately played the perfect guitar line for the chorus. He also pulled out some sweet Spanish themes for the rest of the song. In addition, he had the brilliant idea to do surprise follow-up section directed toward Asian women (the first line of the chorus I wrote is “oooooh, lady from the South” so the Asian section starts with “oooooh, lady from the East”), an absolutely brilliant choice. We almost finished the song, and it is coming along beautifully.

I saw Allyson a few times, which was odd because I had never seen her before on the ship. But she seemed very flirtatious, and I made note.

I got unfortunate news about Beth, the gorgeous girl who wanted to swap music, as it appears she only wants to be friends. That’s at least for the time being, because she is currently hooking up with Derek. That’s cool with me, though, because Beth is super nice, and a very cool girl. And she’s from Petaluma, so we’ll definitely stay in touch back in the Bay Area. In addition, Beth has a drop-dead gorgeous friend named Kenna, and since I’m friend-zoned with Beth I had her put in a good word for me.

Finally, the night before we reached port Nick and I made some travel plans for Vietnam with Charlene. Nick and I had SAS trips the first two days in Vietnam and the final three days free, so we created a loose outline to spend those three days with her.

Alrighty, friends, that’s all I’ve got. I’ve been staring at this laptop for at least four hours today, so I’m going to call it quits. I’ll start my Vietnam entry tomorrow. Love and miss all your beautiful faces.
