Day 103 – At Sea

I slept in yet again. Why yes, it does look like we’re starting to see a trend, my beloved readers. You guys are sharp. I’m guessing that I was just way behind on sleep with all the traveling, particularly after Brazil.

After a shower, I put on a suit and went to Diane’s class. I’ll give ya more on the suit later. Diane’s class was great. For our final, all we did was practice all the different voice exercises we learned, and we each recited a poem. Here was mine, I wrote it myself: “In confinement I sit/ Solitary is my state/ I feel like a tit/ These walls I do so hate.”

After class, Ori took pictures of Nick and myself dancing in the Union. That’s where the suits came in. Now you’re probably thinking, “That’s weird.” Fair point, dear readers, but you don’t have the context. Since we couldn’t go to the Alumni Ball, Ori planned to photoshop Nick and myself into the dance photos and put it in the Voyage Book. (Editor’s Note: Due to the course the evening took, the Alumni Ball Dance photos are actually close-ups of people screaming during the song “Shout!” and, thus, we didn’t get photoshopped in. I really appreciated the thought, though).

After lunch I headed back to the room. I had a few hours to kill, so I just relaxed and read. I can’t remember what I was reading; it may have been the autobiography of Malcolm X. If it was, it was awesome and I had the best time ever.

For the painting final Hana just gave us individual feedback on the painting series we turned in. She gave me some great compliments. My notes say “Definitely going to keep up with art, despite my lack of skill. So meditative.” Unfortunately, I have not kept up my end of the bargain and stuck with art. So I hope I keep my word this time when I saw I’ve got to get back into it.

After dinner I practiced with Tolan; tomorrow was the big day! It was a lot more exciting to be performing at the Comedy Night than for the typical coffee house. With coffee houses, while I’m sure we were high on the list of people’s favorite acts, most people came to see the event, not us in particular. For Comedy Night, people were coming to see us. Don’t believe me? Well, readers who I now hate, I did a super valid scientific study. And by that, noticed that many more people were saying “I’m excited for your performance!” than they had for any coffee house.

Before bed I looked for Amy, but, unfortunately, I couldn’t find her anywhere. So I just watched an In Treatment with Nick before calling it a night.
