Well friends, today was honestly the first day that didn’t feel like summer camp. I had thinking to do all day. But a lot of it was cool thinking.
Nick and I watched an episode of “Freaks and Geeks” last night, which is a magnificent show. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled after only one season, and we are soon to reach its end. I want to punch in the mouth whoever cancelled that show. Anyhoo, I mention this because we stayed up late, well late for SAS, watching the show. We went to bed around 1 am. But as a result we slept through breakfast.
Then we had freeing the human voice, which was relaxing and wonderful as always. After lunch, Nick and I began to plan for Japan along with our friend Jake. I met Jake on the bus ride to the boat, he’s a really cool kid who goes to Chapman. Even better, he can speak pretty good Japanese and has a girlfriend, so his skills will be dedicated to wingmanning Nick and myself. Boo-ya.
Japan sounds absolutely magnificent. We port in Yokohama on a Tuesday, and we immediately are going to train to Tokyo and spend the day there. Tokyo also has a fun nightlife, so we will certainly hit the karaoke bars and dance clubs. After staying in a hostel, we are going to spend the next day, Wednesday, in Tokyo, and take a 11:00 pm train headed to Sapporo. All arrive in Sapporo at 10:00 am on Thursday, and have to switch trains twice. We do have a 7 hour window to sleep, though, so hopefully we will take full advantage. We will spend all day Thursday in Sapporo at its world-renown snow festival, which is home to some of the world’s finest ice sculptures. Then we take a 10:00 pm train to ultimately get to Kyoto, where we will arrive at 1:00 pm the next day. This time we have a 7 hour window and a 3 hour window to sleep, so again, hopefully we will rest up. Friday day and night we spend in Kyoto, and we will train to Kobe the following morning. The boat leaves from Kobe that night. I’m so freaking stoked.
After planning for Japan I had painting, which was an enjoyable, yet forgettable class session. Before dinner I checked out a break dancing class, though I screwed up the time and got there late. It seems really cool, though, I look forward to going in the future. My one concern, though, is that my knees are not flexible enough to excel at the art/sport.
Well that’s it for today. Tonight my hall gets to drink with the faculty in the fabled faculty lounge (we hear they get Guinness up there!!), so that’s where I’m off to. Oh and I’m also about to submit my summer research application. If you’ve got any good song ideas (see my last blog post) shoot me an email. See ya tomorrow.
