Hi friends. I fear this blog will not reach you for a few days because apparently our internet is down. The service we go through in California broke, or something like that. Anyhow, should be up in a few days. Some girl said that if it took one or two days to fix the internet she was going to “freak out.” Guess I don’t want to be her friend.
Today was busy. After Bob’s class I typed up the lyrics to “If I Had One Day,” which Tolan and I will be performing in two days. Then I had some homework for painting, which I took over an hour. My life’s hard.
After lunch I had digital storytelling, which is soon going to start consuming a lot of my time. Producing SeaTV is going to be really, really, challenging and time-consuming, though I think it will be fun and worth the effort.
Next was Drawing, where we learned two-point perspective. This is basically the ability to draw corners of a room with depth. I really liked this technique; it is less about artistic skill and more about understanding the geometry. As math is one of my strengths, my drawing came out pretty darn well. I was pleased.
After Drawing is Gamelan, which is a lot of fun. And after Gamelan some of my classmates and I played “Save the World,” in which we try to juggle (soccer style) a large, inflatable globe. It is surprisingly fun.
Then I went back to the room to work in my sketchbook, and Nick and I grabbed dinner. We ran into a few cool people there, and after eating I went to Salsa lessons. Salsa was OK, but in my opinion it’s a boring style of dancing (at least at my limited skill level). I prefer moving more fast-paced.
Once Salsa ended Tolan and I practiced for our big performance. We performed it to a small trial audience with good results. I didn’t give the performance my all, though. For some reason I tend to be a bit nervous in front of small groups, but the nerves disappear with big groups. It’s an odd psychological phenomenon.
Well I gotta run, internet. Things to do and people to see. Hasta luego.
